The Book of Luke

i have always said The Book of Matthew is my favorite Gospel because The Beatitudes but i've been reading some scholarship on The Gospel which is how they came about and, at least in Thomas Cahill's opinion in his tome Desire In The Everlasting Hills, he asserts that the Johanine gospel was a problematic and he also said that JohnPaul was a disaster which is fascinating and then Francis made him a saint and that too is like outside of all the usual things that people do to become canonized but it's entirely his perogative when you get right down to it.  The miracles are attested of course but they can be what they are you know.  As Einstein said, science makes you think it's all a miracle or there are no miracles.  Something said more beautifully and meaningfully than my paraphrase but not necessarily with more feeling.

to face the value of the feeling is really key
it gets so very little credit for holding this whole thing altogether
it's at the bottom of Freudian slips
and that's not all!
pretty much the root and some of it is a tap root
and some spread wide for the new rains
so there are these two styles

straight & narrow & machine gun

as far as a plantation maximizing the source of water

Water is miraculous.
What we are doing to our water supply is so unintelligent.

Please join Eric Brockovich and be aware, i mean at least take 5 minutes everyday to breakdown in tears over what we're doing to the water, it's that bad really... if it weren't for rain, then it would be completely hopeless.  Round-up is ubiquitous now.  It's got that lovely cowboy sound to it doesn't it.  The war on plants has turned into the war on ourselves.  Somehow we should have seen that coming.  Okay so Gospel truth is a huge subject idnit?

Cast your bread upon the waters.

FINALLY FOUND THE IDEAL READER!

one would think with such a title as The Book of Books that this would be chockfuckingfull of goodys from yours truly so what's the story?

well i finally got access to that book i wanted from Kalamazoo College isn't that the coolest thing ever and it's in transit to the Seymour branch as i explained to them how i remember that it explained writer's block but i didn't remember what the explanation was so im excited!

i have to stick to books then, that will be key for this particular work-in-progress and nothing will come of winging

the latest are all the Thomas Cahill the Librarian could find in the system for me, and so that's been delightful and i want to continue this study and i want to correspond with him and i am so very glad that he wrote the one about Pope John 23 because that one tells me all kinds of good things about Angelo who i wear on my rosary because i believed that he was very good and all those innovations that got started he never saw them take place and i would like to ask him if he thinks all those early brotherhoods the Franciscans and the Dominicans and the Benedictines and the Jesuits, need to include girls now?

And we know the Dominicans were violent.  What about the Franciscans.  When was it that they were eliminating the Gnostics?  Didn't that go on even in The Second Millennium, like at Languedoc?

not such a suspicious mind as definitely always knows there are several possibilitys

The Vincys, they thought Fred wrote Mary's book and Mary, Fred's.

one hesitates to go on this is so awful, and yet just today i picked up Middlemarch, again

and so i am inspired because Charing Cross for one, and because books are being looked at ... and copy continues to be posted ...  on the post

pole really

so there's that and today is Wednesday, and washing needs to be done... because that is what the day is for

so i only got so far into the beginning about Miss Brook and her infatuation with Casaubon her predisposition to admire him and her sister being younger and not understanding her religious bent... which is surely what it is after all

so we have a girl with a religious bent
if you don't find it interesting you would be just like many of the men
she is a Love her or hate her person

and Will worships, not at first, because he cannot believe that she is for real, and as the truth comes to dawn on him, he Loves her

and she Loves him back
which is Lucky for him
isn't it?

having nothing to recommend him in the kind of society in which they are Living

and she had an idea to start a kind of a community, which is a bad idea turns out, not recommended by Garth but he is modelled after Evans who was theoretically religious but not as a practical matter, on the contrary

and the split from her brother
is it in there?  Did she purge it all in The Mill On The Floss

and her relationship with Lewes, certainly he gets a lot of credit
but she worked hard before he came into the picture
perhaps she would not have turned toward fiction ?
can we credit him with the storyTELLER

and she combined the one about the doctor and the one about the girl, the ardent girl

and people always SAY, she would have been so good for Lydgate except that, like Will, he didn't appreciate her peculiar style either, but later compared to Rosy... well...

today i only got as far as the hairs growing out of the moles on Casaubon's face .... lol

Mary Ann named herself George.  After Mr. Lewes, and who Eliot?  She is fascinated by all things American.  She adores Ralph.  She calls him the only grown up man she ever met.  Sounds familiar.  Maybe it is certainly due to Aurore's influence, Ms.Sand.  And maybe will have to go digging for the Eliot, with one L.  It is probably Jane's Anne and those of Kellynch Hall who she has in mind.

Jane was in her heydeys when Mary Ann was a girl.  Everyone knew.  Mary Branwell certainly named all of her daughters after the heroines of Austin.  On purpose?  It's possible.  Is it probable?  Was she a bestseller?

Something to look into.  I know that Charlotte knew of her.  Anyone in Letters certainly.  Scott adored her.  She got a review from The Prince himself which says that she was famous.  And how much greater an influence had she then?  Perhaps it is not too much a stretch to think she singlehandedly ushered in the Victorian Age with her restraint.

Adeline Stephen was there for the revival of the big three and the tiresome sister.  She contributed to it with her treatments.  And shaped my opinions for sure.

So the way it works.  You pick a title.  And then you write. This is Charing Cross.  doing better

the final summing up hath begun ...  now what you would find where i can grab it to put myself to sleep reading which is a great favorite thing of mine to do, and here is the word then Aspects of The Novel, Vanity Fair, Harriet The Spy, Cotillion and the one about plays being able to put together whole troupes of players...

and the all work equally as well for me, one does find oneself then consulting the other Library which consists of The Letters of Jane Austen (a selection), Books & Characters, a box of Cornell and the sequel to Appomattox and plays of Chekov , not including the farces sadly

and those are pocket versions and should probably be protected from the steam which tends to belong to the southwest arising as it does from the precipitants smh

okay enough of this?

well outside of this there is a lot of the reading that gets done of what screenwriters are producing, some of it is just not good at all, but even that is entertaining, and lordy who am i kidding, there are people that are lapping that shit up for lunch

about Vanity Fair this time, i am starting out slowly and that for no apparent reason except that it all seems to be moving much faster than usual and our dear friend in the club who is about to give up reading the book, makes up begin somewhere besides a school, at some other phase of her career and what she has been doing would just be past praying for, so you see when he proposes marriage she is swept off her feet and when the baron himself proposes then she sees being that close, just that close to being My Lady and all it implied and she being a good natured girl made the best of her Captain and he loved her to distraction, he trusted her judgment with unswerving loyalty and admiration

and the devotion of all Emmy's friends to her and the odd long Life she lives with her parents and scrimping and saving for her son until poverty gets them better of them and her father-in-law takes her child into his household and how she is courted by all the eligible bachelors and how their bestfriend continually does a good turn after another for the schoolboy he had defended honorably and earned his classmates respect

they keep doing that, this is the whistling that she does i think more than anything, it is the way that he writes the girls into the story without ever following the lords of creation so closely, not so interesting to the Reader then, and now, it is all leading up to Waterloo

no i can't let myself get away with that, i have to actually remember exactly what bothered me and it had to do with the life that Rebecca had compared to Amelia, so much implied, so very much absolutely unknown... certainly much easier to be quite certain that Amelia is artless and that makes her pretty

it is the sentence that sits at the middle of  the book, before and after the battle of Waterloo
meanwhile back at the home of the crazy republican rich aunt who lives alone in some fashionable neighborhood.  i should know this...  so many threads he keeps picking up and making his puppets dance,  it's not just the girls, he is relentless towards them all

and i read the bit about the novel by Julian Barnes and it got me thinking of the things he started doing with Flaubert's Parrot, exposing the tourists and the perpetrators of the trade for fame, and this this passion for history that seems to have been left behind on the eastern shores of the Atlantic, if only they had left the Africans there as well, if somehow they could have paid the Americans a good solid wage to work together for The Land

there's a pipe dream

and the book of books changes ...  The Prophet by Khalil Gibran is very well done.  One senses a wisdom in the translation that makes one long to read it under the enlightenment of the voice.
